What is Faith? Part One
Part One of Series
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Theme: Faith is a God-given ability. We all have been dealt a measure of faith Romans 12:3, to trust His Word above what we see, feel, or understand — and to live in a confident expectation of what He has promised. We may not see it right now, but we know it’s there.
INTRODUCTION
Beloved, if there is one thing the Bible makes clear, it is this: faith is essential. Faith is not optional. Faith is not a bonus we receive. Faith is not for “super saints.” Faith is the foundation of the Christian life.
Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
It’s not difficult. It’s not challenging, it is impossible to please God.
So today, I want to answer a simple but powerful question: What is faith? Not the faith we talk about casually… not the faith we claim when things are easy… but the faith that Scripture describes. It’s — It’s the faith that moves mountains, receives promises, and carries us through every season of life.
