The Reality and Hope of Heaven: A Place God Has Prepared For His People

John 14:1–6

1“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

2In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

4And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

5Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Jesus comforted His disciples with these words:

“In my Father's house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.”

Heaven Is a Real Place Prepared by Jesus

Jesus said in John 14:2  “I go to prepare a place for you.”

The Bible gives glimpses of this place after the 1000 year reign of Christ on this earth.

Rev 21:1Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

2Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Rev 21: 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending ou

Who Will Be in Heaven?

Revelation 7:9 describes people from:

  • Every nation

  • Every tribe

  • Every people
  •
  • Every language
What Will Not Be There

There will be:

  • No death

  • No sorrow

  • No crying

  • No pain
  •
  • No suffering

Imagine preparing for a long journey.

When people travel:

  • they plan
  • they pack

  • they prepare

Yet many people spend more time planning vacations than preparing for eternity.

But heaven is not just a destination. It is home.

Jesus said in John 14:3
“I will come again and receive you to Myself. that where I am, there you may be also”

Wherever my parents were was home.

Jack crying for his parents….he just wanted to go home.

One day we will hear the words:

“Welcome home.”

The question is not: “Is heaven real?”

The question is: “Are you ready for heaven?”

The only way is Jesus.

John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

If you know Him, heaven is your home.
